More About Stephanie

Stephanie Kiesow is a writer, author, speaker, and law enforcement veteran where she spent the last several years as a police officer. Before she was a cop, she was a 911 dispatcher.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in general psychology from the California State University at Channel Islands and her master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Liberty University. Stephanie also holds many certifications from various organizations, including ones that involve psychological autopsies. 

In 2022, Stephanie left her job as a police officer and now helps departments and corporations increase organizational safety and wellness through anecdotal and science-backed methods. She also is a contributing writer for many mobile apps, blogs, and wellness websites and has been asked to keynote speak for various conferences, trainings, and associations. In particular, she emphasizes workplace contributing factors to suicide and the impact of "workicide," death by career, and its importance in suicide prevention and postvention. Through her own experiences, psychological research, and through the stories of those brave enough to share, Stephanie entertains, educates, and inspires others in the workplace.

In addition to her professional roles with First Responder Wellness/The Counseling Team International, Stephanie teaches for the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and Standard and Training for Corrections (STC) with her certified therapy dog. Zeena the Golden Retriever and her presence is a popular request for critical incident debriefs, wellness events, and spreading puppy love at CA police/fire departments. Stephanie has also been featured on Law Enforcement Today, The Police Tribune, and Blue Lives Matter.

 

When not writing, teaching, or presenting, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and young sons and taking care of her beloved dogs, cats, chickens, and fish.
